JoinDiaspora plain doesn't work - with Friendica, or other Diaspora pods.

To test a Diaspora contact, you need to use a smaller pod.

Has your diasp0ra.ca contact added you to their contacts? You need to add them, and they need to add you to an aspect before you'll see their posts.

I have some JD contacts, and their posts come through.

JD works sometimes, but for me their posts take a day or so to reach my site.

Exactly. Sometimes. And with lag of hours to days.

Doesn't work, in other words. Certainly not for debugging purposes.

Oh, @Manolo Martínez I had difficulty with Diaspora connectivity initially, and the cause was use of the same IP address for free-haven.org as the rest of sites on this server (http://tonybaldwin.me, http://farcebork.com, etc.).
Although I was using Apache with SNI to indicate the proper SSL certificate for free-haven, Diaspora sites were still seeing the self-signed certificate for tonybaldwin.me. I eventually resolved this by buying another IP address from my host ($1/month) for free-haven, and now it works.
Diaspora doesn't like Apache SNI or self-signed certificates.
